Congressional Letter Supporting Wadi Foquin & Webinar

Rev. Michael Yoshii, Co-Chair of Friends of Wadi Foquin and a member of the WMJM Leadership Team, shares a recently released Congressional letter:

A Congressional letter advocating for the Palestinian villages of Wadi Foquin, Al-Walaja, Silwan, and Taybeh against violent intimidation, forced displacement, and threats of annexation has been released by Senator Peter Welch and Congressman Ro Khanna. A total of 76 Members of Congress signed on to the letter directed to Secretary of State Marco Rubio urging the State Department to "clearly communicate to the Israeli Government the negative consequences that pending Knesset bills and construction of the E-1 settlements would have on the prospects for peace and security in the region, on the daily lives of Palestinians, and on Israel’s relations with the United States."

The full letter, list of signers, and additional context can be read here

As the urgency facing these villages continues, staff from the offices of Senator Welch and Representative Khanna will participate in a webinar to amplify the letter’s message and encourage faith based and community advocacy. Hassan El Tayab of the Friends Committee on National Legislation will also join the discussion to provide updates on next steps for Congressional action and guidance on building effective relationships with Members of Congress around Palestine. The webinar will conclude with a call to action, including ways to thank signers of the letter and to urge additional lawmakers to take action.

Registration is required to attend the webinar. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email with details for joining the meeting.
