A Movement Working for Justice

WMJM is dedicated to creating a network for supporting issues of
justice and peace.

WMJM is a member of the Love Your Neighbor Coalition.

Western Jurisdiction annual conferences will elect delegates to the 2028 General and Jurisdictional Conferences, who will also serve at the first U.S. Regional Conference. As congregations consider who will represent them, there is still time to put forward names through remaining nomination processes, including nominations from the floor.

WMJM offers resources to help potential delegates discern whether they are called to serve and to better understand the responsibilities involved. In April, WMJM hosted two forums where leaders shared their experiences on delegations and highlighted key issues anticipated at the 2028 General Conference. A video from one forum and additional guidance materials are available to support those considering candidacy. WMJM prays the delegates elected this year will continue a strong tradition of collaboration across the Western Jurisdiction, especially on justice issues.

WMJM News Summary

Western Methodist Justice movement has adopted responding to christian nationalism and opposing racism as one of its work areas for 2025. Christian Nationalism seeks to merge Christian and American identities, damaging both the Christian faith and America’s democracy. It implies that to be a good American, one must be a very particular kind of Christian. It comes up in many ways, often being used to justify extreme actions and policies in many different areas, including immigration, focused attacks on trans persons but also all LGBTQAI+ persons, restricting marriage, ending Diversity and Equity programs, gun control, and more.

On April 2, 2025 WMJM hosted its second webinar on Christian Nationalism with Jerry Gale and Joy Pettigrew.
