Witness Wednesday during Holy Week
Witness Wednesday (April 16)
The Prophet Micah reminds us of what God requires of us:
To do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)
This is especially critical during challenging times like those we are currently facing when immigrants living in our communities face significant harm.
Western Methodist Justice Movement invites congregations and ministries to participate in acts of kindness and prophetic calls for justice on Witness Wednesday during Holy Week (April 16, 2025). Congregations could take part in Witness Wednesday in a variety of significant ways:
Organizing prayer vigils,
Sharing food and resources,
Contacting elected representatives or other public officials,
Protesting in the public square,
Performing random acts of kindness,
Assembling backpacks and hygiene kits,
Any witness appropriate to your ministry context is welcome!
Invite other congregations and faiths to join in the witness.
Please consider working with 1-2 others to activate and encourage your congregation to find a way to participate in Witness Wednesday as we, together, across the denomination and with others, give witness of standing in solidarity with our immigrant siblings.
We will encourage congregations and ministries to follow up with additional Witness Wednesday activities in the weeks and months ahead. More details will be coming soon.
If you have any questions or want your congregation or ministry to be part of this collective faith response to the current crisis confronting immigrants, please email Ella Luna-Garza and the WMJM witness team at witness@wmjm.org.Please include details of what witness your congregation will engage in.
