WMJM Supports Decision to Remove Support for Protocol Agreement

On Wednesday June 8, the progressive and centrist participants in the mediation of the Protocol of Reconciliation & Grace through Separation withdrew their support for the deal. The developments of the two years since the non-binding agreement occurred and the continued delay of General Conference until 2024 led to their decision. Part of the statement they released says, β€œthe Protocol Agreement no longer adequately addresses the concerns and needs of those who plan to retain their membership in the United Methodist Church.” The legislation related to the Protocol Agreement will still appear before General Conference delegates in 2024, but with weakened support.

The leadership team of WMJM voted to support the decision to remove support for the Protocol Agreement. You can read the full statement here and sign on in support if you wish.
